THE WORD OF GOD SAYS

Feelings of unworthiness can take on different forms, and individuals may perceive them in various ways. The Bible provides guidance on each of these manifestations and offers insights on how to cultivate a sense of worthiness in your life.

LIES OF THE ENEMY:

  • “I feel like no matter what I achieve, there’s this nagging voice telling me it’s not good enough.”

MY STATEMENT OF TRUTH:

  • “I declare that in Christ, I am empowered and more than adequate for every task. With His strength, I can achieve far beyond my wildest dreams, aligning my thoughts with God’s abundant purpose for my life.”

THE WORD OF GOD SAYS:

1 Timothy 1:12-14 The Message (MSG): I’m so grateful to Christ Jesus for making me adequate to do this work.

Philippians‬ ‭4:13‬ ‭NIV:‬‬ [13] I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭AMP‬‬: [20] Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,

LIES OF THE ENEMY:

  • “I feel reluctant to join gatherings because I’m convinced everyone else is better than me, and they’ll see through my shortcomings.”

MY STATEMENT OF TRUTH:

  • “I affirm that God’s love for me is profound, and He has designated me for a special purpose. Embracing the wisdom that strength is found in companionship, I reject isolation, acknowledging that together we can overcome challenges and build resilience, for a cord of three strands is not easily broken.”

THE WORD OF GOD SAYS:

1 Thessalonians 1:2-5 MSG: It is clear to us, friends, that God not only loves you very much but also has put his hand on you for something special.

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4:9‭-‬12‬ ‭AMP‬‬: [9] Two are better than one because they have a more satisfying return for their labor; [10] for if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and does not have another to lift him up. [11] Again, if two lie down together, then they keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? [12] And though one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

LIES OF THE ENEMY:

  • “I feel trapped in this cycle of unworthiness, wondering if I’ll ever truly deserve the happiness I see others enjoying.”

MY STATEMENT OF TRUTH:

  • “I declare that I am not trapped in unworthiness; instead, I am ransomed and called by name, belonging to the Lord. THE WORD OF GOD SAYS:

Isaiah 43:1 NLT: But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.

THE WORD OF GOD SAYS:

Isaiah 41:14-16 MSG: “Do you feel like a lowly worm, Jacob? Don’t be afraid. Feel like a fragile insect, Israel? I’ll help you. I, God , want to reassure you. As a sharp-toothed harrow you’ll smooth out the mountains, turn those tough old hills into loamy soil. You’ll open the rough ground to the weather, to the blasts of sun and wind and rain. But you’ll be confident and exuberant, expansive in The Holy of Israel!

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬: [7] For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭TPT‬‬: [10] We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!

Galatians 1:13-16 MSG: I’m sure that you’ve heard the story of my earlier life when I lived in the Jewish way. In those days I went all out in persecuting God’s church. I was systematically destroying it. I was so enthusiastic about the traditions of my ancestors that I advanced head and shoulders above my peers in my career. Even then God had designs on me. Why, when I was still in my mother’s womb he chose and called me out of sheer generosity!

Galatians‬ ‭2:20‬ ‭TPT‬‬: [20] My old identity has been co-crucified with Christ and no longer lives. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me—we live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that he gave himself for me, dispensing his life into mine!

As I journey forward, I trust in His promise to strengthen, help, and hold me with His victorious right hand, bringing refreshing rivers to the dry wasteland of my emotions. The delay may seem depressing, but I hold on to hope, knowing that the fulfillment of my dreams will bring a sweetness that satisfies my soul.”

THE WORD OF GOD SAYS:

SOUL WORKOUTS

Soul Workouts provide transformative reflection and meditation exercises, guiding readers on a journey to overcome unworthiness by fostering self-awareness, challenging negative thoughts, and cultivating a renewed sense of purpose and worth.

1. Identify Recurring Emotions:

Begin your prayer by acknowledging the recurring emotion related to feeling unworthy. For example; it could be the feeling that people often interrupt you when you speak, leading to a sense that what you say doesn’t matter.

2. Summarize Associated Falsehoods/Lies:

Reflect on the potential falsehoods or lies associated with all your feelings. For instance, you might recognize thoughts like “My voice is not valued” or “I’m not important enough to be heard.”

3. Repent and Seek Guidance:

During your prayer, read a few of the above scriptures and repent of any lies that as been exposed through the help of God’s Word. Acknowledge the lies before God and ask for forgiveness. Invite the Holy Spirit to reveal any deeper issues contributing to these feelings of unworthiness.

4. Visualize a Symbol or Metaphor:

Envision a symbol or metaphor that represents your struggle. For this example, imagine a conversation where you’re constantly interrupted, visualizing the impact on your sense of worth.

5. Listen for Insights:

Ask the Holy Spirit for insights related to this symbol. For example, you might receive an image of a broken communication cycle or hear a gentle reminder that your voice matters in the grander scheme of God’s plan.

6. Relate to the Symbol:

Consider how the symbol relates to your journey of discovering worthiness in Christ. In the context of interrupted conversations, explore the idea that God values your voice and desires to bring about effective communication in your life.

7. Consider Broader Context:

Reflect on how this feeling may extend beyond individual conversations. Are there patterns in your relationships or circumstances that contribute to this sense of unworthiness? This broader context can offer valuable insights.

8. Express Gratitude and Trust: Conclude your prayer by expressing gratitude for the opportunity to bring these feelings before God. Trust that, just as the apple tree needs time to bear fruit, your journey towards recognizing your worth in Christ is a process.

Remember, this exercise is a dynamic and personal journey. Stay open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and feel free to share your reflections with others as you navigate the path to worthiness together.

A psychologist addressing feelings of unworthiness might offer the following advice:

1. Self-Exploration:

Encouraging individuals to explore the root causes of their feelings of unworthiness can be a crucial first step. This may involve reflecting on past experiences and understanding how they shape current perceptions.

2. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):

CBT techniques can help individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns associated with unworthiness. By changing negative thought processes, individuals can gradually shift their self-perception.

3. Positive Affirmations:

Cultivating positive self-talk and affirmations can counteract negative beliefs. Regularly acknowledging and affirming one’s strengths and achievements can contribute to a more positive self-image.

4. Mindfulness and Meditation:

Practices that promote mindfulness can help individuals become more aware of their thoughts without judgment. This awareness can create space to challenge and reframe negative beliefs about oneself.

5. Social Support:

Building a supportive network of friends, family, or support groups can provide a sense of belonging and reinforce positive self-worth.

6. Set Realistic Goals:

Working with a psychologist, coach, or an accountability partner (wise and close friend) to set achievable goals and celebrating small successes can contribute to a sense of accomplishment and value.

7. Professional Help:

In some cases, ongoing therapy or counseling may be recommended to address deeper emotional issues and provide consistent support.

It’s important to note that the specific approach may vary based on individual needs and circumstances. Psychologists tailor their advice to the unique challenges and strengths of each person.

At Jonke Ministries, we embrace the belief that a committed life of prayer, engagement with God’s Word, worship, and meaningful connection with Jesus and a vibrant faith community can reshape your journey.

Here are a few examples of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques:

1. Cognitive Restructuring:

This involves identifying and challenging negative thought patterns. Individuals learn to recognize automatic negative thoughts and replace them with more balanced and positive alternatives.

2. Behavioral Activation:

Encourages individuals to engage in activities that bring joy or a sense of accomplishment. This helps counteract the withdrawal and inactivity often associated with negative emotions.

3. Graded Exposure:

Useful for addressing fears or anxieties, this technique involves gradually facing and approaching feared situations or thoughts. It helps individuals build confidence in managing challenging situations.

4. Mindfulness Meditation:

Mindfulness techniques focus on being present in the moment without judgment. Mindfulness meditation can help individuals observe their thoughts and emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them.

5. Activity Scheduling:

Structuring daily routines and activities can contribute to a sense of accomplishment and routine. This technique helps in breaking tasks into smaller, manageable steps.

6. Thought Records:

Individuals track and analyze their thoughts, emotions, and associated behaviors in a structured way. This helps in identifying patterns and gaining insight into the relationship between thoughts and feelings.

7. Role Reversal:

Involves asking individuals to consider how they would advise a friend facing similar challenges. This perspective shift can provide a more objective and compassionate view of oneself.

8. Homework Assignments:

Therapists often assign tasks or activities for individuals to complete between sessions. These assignments reinforce the application of CBT techniques in real-life situations.

Remember, CBT is a collaborative process, and the specific techniques used depend on the individual’s needs and goals.

At Jonke Ministries, we embrace the belief that a committed life of prayer, engagement with God’s Word, worship, and meaningful connection with Jesus and a vibrant faith community can reshape your journey.

PERSONAL STORIES

Personal Stories delves into intimate revelations drawn from firsthand experiences, offering a heartfelt exploration of what the Holy Spirit has illuminated during moments of prayer and immersion in God’s Word, providing a source of inspiration and guidance for others seeking to overcome the profound sense of unworthiness.

So, there was this time when I was feeling kinda down, you know, thinking I’m not good enough. So, I decided to chat with God about it. I listed out all the feelings that made me feel this way and thought about why they might not be true. Then, I said sorry to God for believing those lies and asked the Holy Spirit to clue me in on anything else I needed to get.

In the middle of my prayer, I imagined this sad apple tree without any fruit. It was like the Holy Spirit was saying that if the tree could talk, it might feel pretty worthless too, and the reason could be because of ‘time.’

I found this quote that said, “The lack of fruit is likely due to the absence of flowers, poor pollination, or low temperatures during bloom. The lack of flowers is often due to the age of the tree. After planting, most dwarf and semi-dwarf apple trees don’t flower and bear fruit for 3 to 5 years.” (Shoutout to Iowa State University!)

Got me thinking, maybe the Holy Spirit is teaching us about becoming new and valuable, and it’s not always because of the bad stuff like not believing or being afraid. It’s like the Holy Spirit wants us to understand the process of figuring out who we are in Him, kinda like the tree growing up.

And, hey, the tree’s environment got me thinking too. Just like the tree needs the right conditions to grow fruit, we need the right relationships and a passion for helping others, all while loving Jesus with all our hearts. It’s not just about the negative stuff; it’s about the time it takes to discover ourselves in Jesus and the people we hang out with.

So, the Holy Spirit used this tree idea to show me that understanding our worth is like a big adventure—learning over time, figuring out who we are, and making sure our hearts are on fire for Jesus. It’s not just about the bad stuff; it’s about growing in the right environment and becoming the amazing people God created us to be.
