Galatians 6:1 MSG

Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.

The meaning of cross-examination is to take the testimony of a witness and check or discredit what was said by asking detailed questions in order to discover if they have been telling the truth. God’s word is the truth (John 17:17) and Jesus warned us about facing many trials and sorrows but the key to get through it is to remember that He has already overcome the world (John 16:33).

The biggest problem amongst many believers is that they think they are holier-that-thou. If someone has stumbled and fallen back into sin, they simply turn their back on them instead of picking them up or praying with them to restore their hope in Jesus. That’s where they are taking up a role that they’re not qualified or have the right to do, and that is the role of cross-examination. No one here on earth has the right to take up this role, except the Holy Spirit. He says in his Word, the Lord searches all hearts and examines secret motives (Jer 17:10). Notice ALL hearts , he didn’t leave some hearts for others to examine.

There is so much power in unity. God says that we all have a special role to play and the main purpose is to help each other grow up together, strong and mature in our faith. In this way we can be full of His love and be measured up to the full and complete standard of Christ (Eph 4:13-16). Jesus has set high standards and that is why we need to be united in spirit, it is impossible to finish God’s work without helping one another.

Be a helping hand and remember that you are not qualified to cross-examine others.
